Be a Rainbow in Someone's Cloud

A belief that we should be a rainbow and that anyone can make a difference in another person’s life is a philosophy I both respect and admire, especially in a ten-year-old child.

Amariyanna “Mari” Copeny is that “Rainbow” in her community as she lives her life on a mission to make things better.

You may have heard of Mari, as she’s also known as “Little Miss Flint”, coming to national recognition in 2016 after penning a letter to President Obama asking to meet with him or Mrs. Obama on her Washington trip with her mother to hear Michigan Governor Snyder’s testimony before Congress.

Mari meets President Obama

She wanted to ask the President to visit her hometown of Flint, MI to bring his special brand of comfort to the residents of her city.

Upon reading her letter the White House contacted Mari with the incredible news the President wanted to meet her on his planned trip to speak with Flint residents.

In light of the poisoning of the city’s water system, one would expect that her attitude would be more on the cynical side, but, Mari’s heart remained open in spite of the dire reality of the water crisis in her community

Last weekend, Mari was once again spreading love in her community by raising enough money to make it possible for 150 underprivileged kids to enjoy the excitement of the blockbuster film, “Black Panther.”

Setting up a GoFundMe with her mom, Loui “Lulu” Brezzell, and her cousin, they were able to raise more than $16,000; renting out a theatre with enough left over to buy “Black Panther” merchandise!

Mari tweeted from her Twitter account @LittleMissFlint after seeing the film, “Yesterday was amazing. It was even better because I had #TeamMari by my side.” #WakandaForever

Her mother shared that Mari worked with shelters, as well as, boys and girls clubs to find children who otherwise probably would not see the consequential film.

Mari’s cousin Felicia Copeny expressed:

“This movie is a very important film especially for people of color, this is the first superhero blockbuster film featuring a majority black cast,”

“This is important for every child especially those of color, to see themselves represented in a cinematic feature film.”

On Twitter Mari describes herself as:

Flint native, Women’s March Youth Ambassador, Founder #DearFlintKids, Cheerleader, Artist, Future President.

I believe Mari can be and do anything she puts her mind to. She’s a remarkable young lady; raising the spirits of her hometown as a role model and leader; making her community proud!

In her own words:

“I want to be President when I grow up. But until then I will fight for #FlintKids.
